Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer for Starship Machining Operations to help design factory layouts and lead the installation of automated CNC cells.

You will own the production area layout, manage vendor walks, and drive rapid project execution on the factory floor. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in hands-on manufacturing, a physics or engineering degree, and experience with process mapping, Lean/Six Sigma, and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience in a high-velocity setting.
• Experience with installing and commissioning complex machinery and automated cells.
• Knowledge of process mapping, capacity modeling, and layouts.

Responsibilities

• Design and own factory and production area layouts for increased capacity.
• Lead installation and commissioning of CNC machining cells and automation.
• Conduct vendor walks, negotiate prices, and manage schedules.
• Drive rapid project completion with hands-on leadership.
• Develop system and process improvements across production teams.
• Analyze delivery, capacity, and cost to guide decisions.
• Ensure safety throughout the factory build-out and operations.
