Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Night Shift Supervisor for Starship Heatshield to lead a ~20-person production team on the shop floor. The role focuses on scheduling, process optimization, and ensuring quality and safety in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Ideal candidates have a track record in leadership, lean manufacturing principles, and strong communication with engineering and production. A technical bachelor’s degree is preferred, with flexibility to work night and day shifts.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a leadership position
• 4+ years in manufacturing, production, operations or project management
• Experience applying lean manufacturing principles
• 10+ years in final assembly and production in aerospace manufacturing
• Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability, Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA
• Strong communication with engineering and production
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced work environment
• Excellent concentration and attention to detail
• Leadership experience in military or aerospace preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise shop floor activity including daily schedules and workflow
• Lead and manage a staff of ~20 technicians including performance management
• Improve process efficiency, utilization, and productivity
• Review work instructions and suggest changes to engineering and shop floor
• Assess skillsets and identify training needs
• Provide data and reporting to support metrics and improvements
• Monitor labor hours and overtime and implement time-management improvements
• Achieve production results by setting expectations and tracking results
• Organize and track work and deliverables across multi-shift schedules
• Foster cooperation across departments and ensure quality and conformance to specs
• Maintain tooling and consumables inventory and safety practices
