Starship Build Lead - Night Shift

Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Build Supervisor (Starship) on the night shift to lead a team of fabricators, welders and technicians assembling Starship and Super Heavy structures. You will translate engineering direction into on-the-floor action, manage headcount, labor, and workflow across multi-shift schedules, and foster a productive, safe culture.

The role requires 8+ years in final assembly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and proven leadership, with lean manufacturing and kaizen knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years in final assembly production (aviation/aerospace/mechanical systems).
• 2+ years of experience leading a team or a project.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shop floor activity, including daily schedules and workflow.
• Lead and manage a staff of ~30 technicians including performance management tasks.
• Review work instructions and make change recommendations when needed.
• Assess and vet appropriate skillsets as needed.
• Identify training needs and develop training programs.
• Provide data and reporting to support metrics and objectives.
• Monitor labor hours and overtime; implement improvement plans.
• Plan and communicate job expectations; monitor results and appraise performance.
• Organize and track work/deliverables across multi-shift schedules.
• Foster cooperation between departments and ensure safety and quality.
