Reports To: Staging Department Supervisor

Position Summary

The Staging Technician / Backup Driver is responsible for the preparation, inspection, packaging, and coordination of SGPS ShowRig staging equipment for rental and production use. This position ensures that staging products—including platforms, legs, headers, railings, stairs, and lifts—are safe, functional, properly packaged, and delivered in accordance with project timelines. The role supports staging operations in the warehouse and on-site while also serving as a Backup Driver to perform local deliveries and pickups as business needs require. When assigned driving responsibilities, the employee is responsible for safely operating company vehicles, ensuring timely deliveries, and complying with all company safety and transportation requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test-fit, assemble, adapt, package, and maintain staging products including platforms, legs, headers, railings, stairs, and lifts.
  • Inspect staging equipment for cleanliness, functionality, and safety; perform or report necessary repairs.
  • Support development and execution of efficient staging workflows and handling procedures.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment required for staging preparation and shipping.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, production, and operations teams to fulfill project requirements on schedule.
  • Label, package, and prepare staging equipment for shipment, ensuring protection during transportation and efficient deployment on-site.
  • Maintain accurate staging inventory records, documenting equipment availability and condition.
  • Provide periodic on-site support for staging installation and strike, working with production and automation teams as required.
  • Collaborate with the Automation Department to integrate stage lifts and elevators into stage systems, ensuring safe and seamless operation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Previous experience in staging, shipping, rentals, warehouse operations, or related production environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with stage decks, platforms, and staging components.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate tools and material handling equipment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to stay current with industry trends and evolving staging technologies.
  • Familiarity with CAD or staging design software is a plus.
Backup Driver Responsibilities (As Needed)

In addition to the primary responsibilities of a Staging Technician, this position may be assigned to operate a company vehicle or box truck to support local deliveries and pickups as business needs require. Employees will receive the applicable additional compensation while performing backup driving duties.

  • Safely operate a box truck to make local deliveries and pickups in accordance with established schedules.
  • Plan and execute efficient delivery and pickup routes to minimize delays and maximize productivity.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks when needed, ensuring all items are properly secured for transport.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups, obtaining signatures and documenting discrepancies.
  • Communicate promptly with the Logistics Manager regarding challenges or schedule changes.
  • Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and company safety standards at all times.
  • Perform routine inspections of the box truck, reporting maintenance issues promptly.
  • Respond professionally to customer inquiries or concerns during deliveries.
  • Support other reasonable tasks assigned by management to enhance transportation operations.
Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, meeting all legal and company requirements.
  • Must be willing to have flexible hours, willing to work early mornings, late evenings and weekends.
  • Prior experience operating box trucks or similar vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage routes and schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail for maintaining records and documentation.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and team members.
  • Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance procedures.
  • Flexibility to work variable schedules as required.
  • Willingness to complete required training or certifications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements

This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to:

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Work on ladders, elevated platforms, truck lift gates, and in confined spaces when required.
  • Safely operate power tools, hand tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Perform repetitive motions involving hands, arms, and shoulders.
  • Maintain visual and auditory awareness in a busy warehouse and production environment.
  • Work in varying environmental conditions including warehouse temperatures, outdoor venues, noise, dust, and exposure to weather during load-ins and load-outs.
  • Work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime based on project demands.
Working Conditions

This position is performed primarily in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature fluctuations and frequent exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying weather conditions during loading, unloading, deliveries, and on-site work. Employees may also be required to travel to customer locations to support staging operations or perform backup driving duties. Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, overtime, and occasional overnight travel based on business and project needs.
