Job summary

Sight & Sound seeks a Show Automation Technician to support technical elements during show runs and to repair department equipment and systems. You will operate automation consoles, troubleshoot, and ensure cues are executed safely and on time.

Ideal candidates have electronics troubleshooting experience, knowledge of video media servers, and a background in live production. Flexible hours and occasional overnight work during rehearsals may be required.

Qualifications

Associate degree and 1-2 years electronics troubleshooting experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of electronic and electrical systems.
Hardware, software, and network computer skills.
Advanced electronic and mechanical troubleshooting skills for lighting, projection, special effects and communications equipment.
Knowledge of programming and operation of video media servers.

Responsibilities

Provide support for technical elements during show run and repairs to department equipment and systems.
Operate automation and control consoles during shows, executing cues accurately and safely.
Maintain and repair lighting, projection, special effects, and communications equipment during performances and rehearsals.
Develop and maintain cue sheets and start-up/shutdown checklists.
Communicate show element status with Automation & Effects, Media/Art, Deck Chief, and Stage Management.
Assist in changeovers and provide emergency show support as needed.
