Job summary

City of Irving is seeking a Theater Technician to coordinate and assist theater technicians and volunteers in the set-up, operation and strike of presentations at the Irving Arts Center. You will plan stage activities for crew calls and oversee operation and maintenance of all theater equipment and systems.

You’ll also train user groups in safe construction of sets and scenery and act as back-of-house liaison with event staff.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and two years’ theater production or related experience.
• Knowledge of theatrical lighting, audio, rigging/counterweight systems, and safe construction practices.
• ETCP theatrical rigger or entertainment electrician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist theater technicians and volunteer groups during set-up, operation, and strike.
• Plan stage activities for crew calls and ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of theater equipment, lighting, and audio systems.
• Serve as back-of-house liaison between clients and front-of-house staff.
• Maintain inventory and generate reports using event management software.
