Job summary

The City of Valdez is seeking an Assistant Event and Operations Tech at the Valdez Civic Center. Under the supervision of Civic Center staff, this position helps with tasks related to civic center functions and events.

This role involves frequent walking, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and climbing stairs and ladders. It requires a non-traditional schedule and the ability to operate audio/visual equipment and basic lighting systems.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years of age for Assistant Tech & Event Operations.
• Must be 18+ years of age for event staff where alcohol is present.
• Must have high school diploma or GED for event staff.
• Customer service-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads theatre clean weekly and per event as required.
• Cleaning and maintaining the facility and its equipment to high standards.
• Assists senior staff with event set-up and tear down of furniture, basic sound equipment and lighting systems.
• Operate microphones, audio and visual equipment, basic theatrical lighting systems.
• Safely manages facility and patrons during events under supervisor directions.
• Assist with inventory of catering supplies and fill in for movie staff when absent.
• Must be able to operate all equipment and troubleshoot issues.
• Performs other complex duties as assigned.
