Job summary

E. Roy Stone, JR. Veterans Pavilion in Columbia, SC is seeking a Full Time Staffing Coordinator to help ensure reliable nurse scheduling and coverage across all shifts.

You will support department needs while contributing to high-quality resident care in a post-acute setting. You will prepare and maintain accurate nursing staff schedules, coordinate new hires and training, monitor call-outs, PTO, overtime, and communicate schedule updates with Human Resources and Nursing Administration.

Qualifications

• Previous staffing, scheduling, or healthcare experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills required.
• Ability to manage scheduling changes and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate nursing staff schedules.
• Ensure appropriate staffing coverage across all shifts and departments.
• Monitor call-outs, PTO requests, vacancies, availability, and schedule changes.
• Secure coverage for open shifts and staffing needs.
• Coordinate schedules for new hires, orientations, and training.
• Maintain accurate staffing records and communicate schedule updates.
• Monitor staffing levels and assist in controlling unnecessary overtime.
• Partner with Human Resources and Nursing Administration regarding staffing needs.
• Identify staffing shortages and communicate concerns promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling employee and facility information.

What You'll Need

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous staffing, scheduling, or healthcare experience preferred
• Long-term care, skilled nursing, or 24-hour healthcare experience strongly preferred
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage staffing shortages and last-minute schedule changes
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Basic computer proficiency; scheduling and timekeeping software experience preferred
• Experience with Paycor is a plus
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently
• Ability to collaborate effectively with leadership and direct-care staff
