Job summary

Teradata Corporation (SE) is seeking a Staff Virtualization Engineer for our Platform Infrastructure team. The role focuses on delivering an on‑prem, hybrid-first platform that unifies EDW with AI and analytics capabilities in a scalable Lakehouse architecture.

You will engage in virtualization design, implement robust infrastructure, and collaborate across teams to ensure high performance, security, and reliability of the Teradata platform across enterprise environments.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of virtualization tech and hypervisors
• Expert knowledge of KVM and Harvester
• Expert knowledge of vSphere, vSan, vMotion, vCenter and/or vRa
• Expert knowledge of VMware deployment techniques
• Knowledge of VMware alternatives (KVM/Nutanix, RedHat/OpenShift)
• Automation experience using PowerCLI, Python, or Go
• Experience using Terraform to deploy VMware components
• Experience debugging vSphere cluster issues (pktcap-uw, esxtop, esxcli)
• Expert knowledge of deploying virtualization solutions in an Enterprise environment
• Knowledge of L2 and L3 network protocols
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript
• VMware Certified Advanced Professional

Responsibilities

• Perform software engineering duties: analysis, design, code, test, and support
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve test strategies
• Conduct end-to-end testing for functionality, stability, and integration
• Maintain information security across the virtualized infrastructure
• Drive virtualization best practices across customer environments
• Optimize network hardware and software for virtualization integration
• Detect early signals of at-risk features in the platform
• Work with DevOps to build test tools and automation
• Coordinate cross-functional processes to meet customer needs
• Collaborate with other orgs to address new Teradata features
• Perform root cause analysis of customer issues
• Contribute to product documentation and manuals
