Job summary

Google Beam is seeking a Stability and Release Manager to drive software maturation and ensure high-quality releases across multiple stacks and form factors.

You will oversee testing, validation, and delivery, balancing quality with costs while coordinating with external OEMs and co-development partners to enable seamless product development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years in a leadership role (with or without reports).
  • Experience testing software on custom hardware.
  • Experience releasing OS and applications software.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality software to customers and partners.
  • Maintain external relationships with key partners (OEMs, co-development).
  • Enact a testing strategy balancing quality with resources.
  • Optimize software delivery across locations and stacks.
  • Lead a TPM team focused on release, testing, and fleet operations.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
  • Experience testing software on custom hardware.
  • Experience with OS and applications software release management.
Preferred qualifications:
  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or team projects.
  • Experience scaling a custom hardware and software integrated product.
  • Experience managing vendors and individuals who manage vendors.
  • Experience maintaining working relationships with external partners (e.g., OEMs, software co-development).
  • Experience with quality assurance (QA) and automated testing.
About The Job

As the Stability and Release Manager for Beam, you will drive the maturation of our product’s software, ensuring a high-quality experience before it reaches our end users. Leveraging your expertise in both OS and applications software, you will oversee timely, consistent releases across multiple software stacks and form factors. You will be responsible for the validation and testing of our software experience, maintaining our rigorous quality bar while effectively balancing resourcing costs. Your scope will include optimizing our on-the-ground fleet efforts and owning critical software delivery relationships with external OEMs and co-development partners to unlock seamless product development and delivery.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $192000 - $278000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities
  • Deliver software to customers and partners consistently and of high quality.
  • Maintain and cultivate external relationships with key partners, owning software delivery and quality (e.g., OEMs, co-development partners).
  • Enact a testing strategy across our software development process that maintains the highest quality bar while balancing resourcing costs.
  • Optimize on-the-ground efforts across Google and partner locations to unlock software development and delivery.
  • Manage a team of Technical Program Managers leading our release, testing, and fleet operations areas, cultivating this team to maximize their impact on the product.
