Job summary

Uber is seeking a principal technical lead to evaluate the safety and maturity of autonomous vehicle partners launching on the Uber platform. You will conduct rigorous technical due diligence and serve as the bridge between Uber and partners, aligning AV stacks with Uber safety expectations.

Based on the role, you will define assessment criteria, lead partner integrations, perform SRAs, and work with policy and regional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 7+ years in systems engineering with hardware/software integration.
• Track record in autonomous vehicle safety-critical systems.
• Experience with V&V methodologies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain technical rubrics and safety benchmarks for AV stacks.
• Lead partner integration and ensure systems align with Uber safety expectations.
• Author Safety Risk Assessments and communicate findings to partners and Uber leadership.
• Collaborate with policy/regions to translate regulations into engineering solutions.
• Improve onboarding and verification/validation frameworks for scalability.
• Communicate with Product, Legal, and Policy teams on safety topics.
