Scribd, Inc. is seeking a senior systems engineer to own the Content Library and Core Infrastructure. You will design, implement, and operate Rust services at scale, while evolving the Python userland and guiding cross-functional teams.

Join a team of senior engineers, shape roadmap, balance performance and cost, and mentor others. This role requires 10+ years in backend/distributed systems, Rust, Python, and AWS expertise.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficient in Rust and Python.
• Strong storage and data fundamentals (S3, Parquet/Arrow, PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Design and operate high-throughput, low-latency services.
• Proven technical leadership across teams.
• Experience with AWS and IaC (Terraform).
• Excellent communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Content Library core Rust services.
• Own features end-to-end from design to production.
• Evolve Python userland and developer experience.
• Lead cross-functional projects with ML, search, product, and data teams.
• Drive performance and cost-efficiency across the stack.
• Strengthen governance: data lineage, access controls, and deletion propagation.
• Mentor the team and improve the developer environment.
