Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Staff Support Assistant in Glenbrook, with the ability to float to Evanston, Highland Park and Skokie Hospitals. Part-time position (32 hrs/wk) with hours 8:00 am–4:30 pm, Monday–Friday, on-site.

The role supports the clinical team by responding to patient needs, performing rounds, assisting with transfers and meals, keeping rooms clean, and following infection control procedures. Benefits and paid time off are offered.

Responsibilities

• Responds to the immediate needs of the patient by answering patient call lights promptly and courteously.
• Performs hourly or more frequent rounds on patients for safety, comfort, and meeting patients' needs/requests as directed by the RN.
• Positions, lifts, transfers, and ambulates patients as directed by the RN.
• Assists with setting up meals for patients and ordering meals.
• Keeps patient rooms tidy, refreshes linen as needed, removes unnecessary equipment and linen.
• Assists patients with simple hygiene/comfort measures such as washing hands/face and oral care.
• Transports patients to other departments or upon discharge as directed by the RN.
• Remains with the patient for safety as directed by the RN.
• Handles infectious waste and linen according to hospital procedures.
• Adheres to infection control standards and proper handwashing techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
• Acts as a runner to obtain necessary items for patient care.

Job description

Hourly Pay Range:

$19.71 - $28.58 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

What you will do:

The Staff Support assists the clinical team with various duties that may include:

• Responds to the immediate needs of the patient by answering patient call lights promptly and courteously.
• As directed, by RN, makes hourly or more frequent rounds on patients for safety, comfort, and meeting patients' needs/requests
• Positions, lifts, transfers, and ambulates patients as directed by the RN
• Assist with setting up meals for patients and ordering meals
• Keeps patient rooms tidy, refreshes patient's linen as need, removes unnecessary equipment and linen
• Assists patient with simple hygiene/comfort measures such as washing hands/face and oral care
• As directed by the RN, transports patient to other departments or when patient being discharge
• When directed by the RN, remains with the patient continuously for patient safety.
• Handles infectious waste and linen according to established hospital procedure
• Adheres to proper infection control standards and hand washing techniques to avoid cross contamination
• Cleans and disinfects unit specific equipment
• "Runner" to other departments, when needed to obtain necessary items for patient care
