Job summary

BorgWarner in Kokomo, IN is seeking a dynamic Staff Supplier Development Engineer to shape global supplier quality strategies for semiconductors. You will lead vetting, capability assessments, and development plans while partnering with engineering, program management, and plant operations to improve Quality/Cost/Time.

The role requires 5–10+ years in semiconductor commodity experience, strong negotiation skills, and a track record in automotive production environments.

Qualifications

• Semiconductor commodity experience required, 5+ years (10+ preferred). Automotive production exp. desired.
• Proven manufacturing, supplier quality and process improvement background.
• Strong negotiation skills and vendor assessment ability.
• Fluent English; other language skills are a plus.
• Team player with collaborative mindset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Create and drive global supplier quality strategy for the commodity.
• Develop vetting, capability assessment, supplier selection and development roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Global Commodity Manager to implement supplier quality programs.
• Identify new technologies to support BorgWarner growth and leadership.
• Develop processes for vetting and supplier performance tracking.
• Lead supplier quality training and audits, including corrective actions.
• Monitor global commodity trends and impact on quality and cost.
• Establish KPIs to monitor supplier performance long-term.
• Lead cross-functional resolution of quality issues with suppliers.
• Mentor regional Supplier Development Engineers and labs.
