Job summary

Smart Wires Inc. in Durham, NC is seeking a Staff SQA Engineer to lead our SQA team for embedded firmware and desktop software testing. You will define quality plans, develop test strategies, and drive AI verification workflows in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate offshore testing efforts, and partner with software and product teams to ensure robust, secure releases of next-generation power-flow control solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, or Systems Engineering.
• 10 years of experience with SQA testing of complex embedded systems.
• 5+ years of experience with test automation platforms (LabVIEW preferred).
• 3+ years of people management and offshore collaboration.
• 3+ years of experience with cybersecurity testing.

Responsibilities

• Define, own & implement the SQA strategy for embedded firmware and desktop software.
• Develop and maintain firmware & software quality plans and test strategies.
• Lead release readiness reviews for package releases.
• Drive continuous improvement of the software test life cycle processes.
• Establish traceability between requirements, tests and defects, incl. AI artifacts.
• Define and track software quality KPIs, including AI-related metrics.
• Manage the offshore SQA team and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Automate firmware deployment and testing in SmartValve hardware.
• Champion AI adoption and verification strategies for AI-generated code.
