Specialist Staffing Group is recruiting for a Staff Software Project Manager for a Boston-based SaMD initiative. The role combines software development leadership with regulatory alignment to deliver secure digital surgery solutions.

You will coordinate across engineering, quality, regulatory, and business teams, guiding programs from planning through commercialization while managing timelines, dependencies, risks, and release readiness.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of project or program management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead software-focused product development programs from charter through launch.
• Build and manage integrated project plans across software, hardware, quality, regulatory, and clinical workstreams.
• Drive execution through all stages of the SDLC.
• Coordinate activities between internal engineering teams and external development partners.
• Track milestones, budgets, dependencies, risks, and critical path activities.
• Support verification, validation, testing, and release readiness activities.
• Facilitate communication between technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Ensure project deliverables remain aligned with design controls and quality requirements.
• Lead recurring project reviews and provide concise status updates to leadership.

Staff Software Project Manager - Digital Surgery (SaMD)

Boston, MA (Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite)
12-Month Contract, eligible for conversion to FT post

We're partnering with an industry-leading MedTech organization to hire a Staff Software Project Manager to support the development and launch of innovative digital surgery and Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a project manager who has a strong software background and understands the complexities of developing products in a regulated medical device environment. The team is looking for someone who can lead software-driven programs from planning through commercialization while working across engineering, quality, regulatory, and business stakeholders.

The Opportunity

You'll support next-generation digital surgery platforms that leverage software, AI, imaging, and navigation technologies to improve surgical precision and patient outcomes. These programs are actively evolving, with new product releases, feature expansions, and global launch initiatives already underway.

Unlike traditional PM roles, this position requires someone who can comfortably engage with software engineers and technical leads while maintaining ownership of timelines, dependencies, risks, and overall program execution.
