Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking a senior engineer to build verification systems that decide if backend changes are safe to land. You will define signals for tests, support AI-generated code verification, and help shape the verification strategy for a scalable, trustworthy software factory.

You’ll work across teams to set technical direction, reduce flakiness, and deliver actionable insights, partnering with CI, build and product teams in a hybrid, in-office/remote environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of full-time software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building and operating backend distributed systems.
• Solid knowledge of algorithms, data structures and system design.
• Demonstrated ability to set technical direction on ambiguous, high-impact problems.
• Track record of delivering technical work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Build systems that measure test quality beyond coverage, including fault detection and mutation analysis.
• Design signals to identify which tests matter for a change and are reliable.
• Build verification for AI-generated code, including independent test generation and validation.
• Define evaluation methods for agents, validators, and regression tracking across models.
• Measure trust in verification signals and improve actionability of failures.
• Reduce flakiness and provide actionable failure details to engineers and agents.
• Define and track verification health metrics and catch regressions early.
• Contribute to the team’s technical direction with design docs and standards.
