Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking a senior software engineer to join the Test and Verification team within Developer Platform. You will build systems that decide whether backend changes are safe to land and provide clear signals on which tests matter for a given change.

You will work hands-on to define verification signals, enable AI-assisted code checks, and help set the team's technical direction. This role emphasizes trustworthy verification in an agentic software factory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 8+ years of full-time software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building and operating backend distributed systems.
• Solid knowledge of algorithms, data structures and system design.
• Demonstrated ability to set technical direction on ambiguous, high-impact problems.
• Track record of delivering technical work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate backend distributed systems.
• Define signals to indicate which tests matter for a change and what a failure means.
• Develop verification for AI-generated code and CI attestations.
• Evaluate agents, skills, and validators using golden datasets and regression tracking.
• Measure trust in verification signals and reduce flakiness in failures.
• Shape verification health metrics and track regressions early.
• Contribute to the technical direction with design docs and standards.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with CI, build, and product teams.
