Job summary

Form Energy is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Test Software to lead the unified software platform powering our HIL/SIL testing ecosystems. You will collaborate with Test Infra, EE, Firmware and Software teams to define requirements, architect the platform, and deliver end‑to‑end capabilities.

Relocation assistance is available and the role reports to the Test SW Platform Team manager. This is an onsite opportunity, based in Berkeley, CA, with a strong emphasis on hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in CS/CE/EE or equivalent.
• 7+ years in software engineering with experience building HIL/SIL platforms.
• Strong Python proficiency and OO design skills.
• Solid understanding of electrical schematics and low‑level drivers.

Responsibilities

• Architect a cross‑platform test platform enabling single test cases across HIL and SIL benches.
• Contribute to requirements, evaluate tooling options, and drive platform architecture.
• Develop intuitive UIs for cross‑functional teams to interact with the platform.
• Design robust device drivers to control hardware in the loop.
• Scale SIL cloud infrastructure to support advanced battery simulations.
• Troubleshoot complex HW/SW issues using schematics and test equipment.
