Job summary

OneTrust is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical direction across a major feature area, shaping system design and architecture. You will self-direct in complex scenarios and influence multiple teams beyond your own.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Product and UX, and drive engineering best practices while delivering impactful software for a data governance platform. This is a hybrid, office-first role in the Bay Area with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Demonstrated track record leading technical initiatives that span multiple engineers or systems.
• Deep expertise in frontend and/or backend technologies relevant to OneTrust's platform, including cloud architecture experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture for major features or components, ensuring alignment with the broader system architecture.
• Determine approach and methods independently on complex, ambiguous assignments without an established playbook.
• Partner with other engineering teams, Product, and UX to shape solutions before implementation begins.
• Build working relationships and technical credibility beyond your immediate team.
• Establish and champion engineering best practices adopted by your team and beyond.
• Mentor Senior and mid-level engineers, helping them grow their technical judgment and scope of ownership.
