Job summary

Stripe is seeking an experienced technical leader to shape the architecture and technical roadmap for Stripe Tax. You will work with engineering, product, design, operations, and go-to-market teams to turn evolving tax requirements into reliable experiences for millions of businesses.

You will lead high-impact, multi-team initiatives, raise the bar for system correctness, auditability, and security, and mentor other engineers while refining the platform as Stripe Tax scales globally.

Qualifications

• Requires 10+ years of industry software engineering experience.
• Proven track record of architectural decision-making while remaining hands-on.
• Experience leading complex, multi-team programs from definition to delivery.
• Ability to set long-term technical direction amid uncertainty.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder alignment without formal authority.
• Commitment to mentoring engineers and fostering data-informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy and execution for Stripe Tax investments.
• Translate complex tax requirements into scalable platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, design, operations, legal, GTM, and infra leaders.
• Design scalable, auditable data models and systems.
• Ensure interoperability across Stripe products and external tax ecosystems.
• Provide hands-on leadership and mentorship to accelerate other engineers.
