Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to act as the technical lead for the Spam & Abuse team. You will define the architecture for detection, decision, and enforcement across cross-cutting systems and secure mobile client flows.

You will mentor engineers, drive roadmaps with product and data science partners, and raise the bar for reliability, latency, and security in critical paths from registration through messaging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 9+ years of software development experience; or Master’s with 8+ years; or PhD with 5+ years.
• Experience as a technical lead or owner of complex technical initiatives.
• Experience building systems that detect or mitigate spam, abuse, fraud, or malicious behavior.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical vision and multi-year architecture for Spam & Abuse.
• Lead design of the team’s most complex systems and ensure architectural coherence.
• Drive technical strategy with PMs and eng managers and translate into actionable roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers across the team and foster a culture of technical excellence and ownership.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate risk and enforcement into surfaces.
• Improve reliability and latency of critical paths for registration, login, and messaging.
• Stay ahead of adversaries and ensure defenses scale.
• Use AI tools to design scalable services while upholding security and correctness.
