Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Spam & Abuse team. You will define multi-year architecture for spam detection, account takeover defense, and secure mobile client flows, while steering cross-team collaboration and technology strategy.

You will mentor engineers, drive reliability, and push for scalable, secure, and efficient systems, leveraging AI tools to keep pace with evolving threats across registration, login, and messaging surfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• 9+ years of software development; or 8+ with Master’s; or 5+ with PhD.
• Experience as a technical lead or owner of complex initiatives.
• Experience building systems to detect or mitigate spam, abuse, fraud, or malicious behavior.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical vision and multi-year architecture for Spam & Abuse.
• Lead design of complex, cross-cutting systems and ensure architectural coherence.
• Drive technical strategy with managers and product teams and translate into roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and ownership.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, data science, operations, policy, and legal to integrate risk and enforcement.
• Raise reliability, latency, and quality for registration, login, and messaging systems.
• Stay ahead of adversaries and design defenses that scale.
• Employ AI tools to design and ship scalable services with security in mind.
