Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to lead technical initiatives in our autonomous driving simulation team. You will influence the architectural roadmap for the Simulation Scenario Definition platform and its Python SDK, while guiding hundreds of engineers through advanced tooling, APIs, and best practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on large-scale platforms, tooling, or SDK development.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects from concept to production.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, including building robust APIs/SDKs for external consumers.
• Solid foundation in 3D graphics, computational geometry, and/or real-time simulation concepts.
• Track record of mentoring mid-level and senior engineers to raise technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Technical Vision: contribute to the architectural roadmap for the Simulation Scenario Definition platform and/or its Python SDK.
• Scalable Tooling: lead the design and implementation of next-generation graphical editing tools used by hundreds of engineers to define complex traffic, environment, and sensor scenarios.
• Performance & Infrastructure: drive evolution of Python infrastructure, focusing on core algorithms for serialization, validation, and cloud integration.
• Mentorship: act as a hands-on mentor, setting engineering excellence standards for API design, code quality, and testing practices.
