Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape and scale the engineering platforms that build, test, integrate, validate, and deliver embedded software for software-defined vehicles.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role aimed at turning ambiguous, cross-team problems into durable architectures and measurable improvements in engineering effectiveness, release confidence, and product quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years experience validating software systems and leading architecture across organizations.
• Deep understanding of software architecture for real time systems.
• Experience shipping high quality safety critical products and embedded test automation.
• Proficiency with Linux, Git, Python, Bash, Robot Framework, containers and IaC.
• Experience with CI/CD, test automation, data analytics and API development.

• Identify opportunities, strategies, process improvements, and lead the change.
• Be hands-on by leading high impact efforts.
• Be a strong communicator, coach, and mentor.
• Define and modernize a standardized, automated test framework across environments.
• Develop APIs and integrations between test execution, management, and diagnostics.
• Improve test robustness, deployment speed, and regression handling.
• Lead modernization of large-scale embedded software test systems.
