Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and build core traffic infrastructure powering our platform at scale, including API Gateway, MCP Gateway, AI Gateway, and Service Mesh.

This hands-on technical leadership role requires solving distributed-systems challenges, setting technical bar, and ensuring resiliency, latency, and operational excellence at high transaction volumes. Hands-on production coding is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend system design experience required.
• Strong Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure expertise at scale.
• Proficient in Go and Java with production-grade coding.
• Experience with Istio/Envoy and API gateways.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop core Traffic Platform components, including API gateway and service mesh.
• Lead requirements gathering, technical specifications, and project/test planning.
• Present designs and trade-offs to technical review forums and drive alignment with stakeholders.
• Manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables across concurrent projects with minimal oversight.
• Define comprehensive test strategies to validate correctness and resiliency.
• Perform code reviews and provide actionable feedback to raise code quality.
• Debug distributed failures across Kubernetes clusters with tracing.
• Demonstrate operational excellence with observability and incident readiness.
