Job summary

Intuit in Michigan seeks a Staff Software Engineer to design and build the core traffic infrastructure that powers our platform at scale, including API Gateway, MCP Gateway, AI Gateway, and Service Mesh.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role that emphasizes resiliency, latency, and operational excellence at high transaction volumes. You will lead architecture, reviews, and deliver end-to-end solutions across Kubernetes clusters.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing and building platform software and distributed systems at scale.
• Deep Kubernetes and cloud infra experience (control plane, deployments, stateful sets).
• Strong Go and Java programming proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop core Traffic Platform components (API Gateway, MCP Gateway, AI Gateway, Service Mesh).
• Lead gathering of requirements, write specs, and plan projects and tests.
• Present designs and trade-offs to technical review forums and align with stakeholders.
• Manage priorities and deliverables across concurrent projects with minimal oversight.
• Define test strategies for correctness and resiliency, including positive/negative cases.
• Perform code reviews in Go, Python, and Java and provide actionable feedback.
• Debug distributed failures across Kubernetes clusters and ensure observability and incident readiness.
• Remain hands-on and contribute production-quality code to improve existing solutions.
