Commure is building the AI Operating System for healthcare. We seek a Staff Software Engineer to own authentication and authorization across multiple products, design secure identity workflows, and lead platform initiatives that improve reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with production systems at scale.
• Strong experience with authentication and authorization systems (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWTs, session & token management).
• Deep expertise in backend and distributed systems, APIs, databases, caching, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Strong security fundamentals and architectural judgment balancing security, reliability, and velocity.
• Experience leading large multi-component initiatives across teams and production environments.
• Operational mindset with Kubernetes, IaC, observability, CI/CD, safe migrations, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the architecture of authentication and authorization across multiple products and services.
• Design and build secure identity workflows and service-to-service authentication with fine-grained authorization.
• Lead design of shared platform services and reusable engineering patterns for consistent operation of microservices.
• Drive performance and scalability improvements across APIs, databases, caching, and distributed service interactions.
• Improve developer productivity via faster CI/CD, reusable tooling, and better test environments.
• Establish standards for observability, monitoring, dashboards, and safe production rollouts.
• Partner with platform and product teams to protect data and meet regulatory requirements.
• Lead complex initiatives spanning multiple systems from design to production operations.
• Make pragmatic technical decisions balancing security, correctness, and delivery velocity.
• Mentor engineers, lead reviews, and raise engineering bar with strong feedback.
