Job summary

Verygoodsecurity is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to build the Agentic API powering trusted AI-driven payments infrastructure. You will design secure, scalable APIs for enrollment, token provisioning, mandates, and attestation, while owning security, reliability, and performance of mission-critical payment flows.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience taking ownership of outcomes in large-scale distributed systems.
• Advanced proficiency in AWS and infrastructure-as-code.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and GitOps workflows.
• Strong Python skills to automate infrastructure and tooling.
• Observability tooling and practices at scale (Prometheus/OpenTelemetry).
• Solid understanding of cloud security, API Gateways, and network isolation.

Responsibilities

• Architect Agentic Payment Infrastructure and lead Python 3.13+ & FastAPI services.
• Define APIs and domain models for enrollment, token provisioning, mandates, and cryptograms.
• Own security, reliability, scale, and performance of high-risk payment workflows.
• Build deep observability patterns including tracing, metrics, and structured logging.
• Automate provisioning with Kubernetes CRDs and extensible workflows.
• Set testing strategies across unit to end-to-end for production-ready systems.
• Lead technical reviews and drive cross-functional initiatives end-to-end.
• Apply AI-native engineering to accelerate prototyping, testing, and delivery.
