Hover is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to turn property data into actionable estimates and scope recommendations. You will align with the Principal Product Manager, spending time coding and guiding architecture for enterprise insurance initiatives. You will collaborate with adjusters, contractors, and product teams to ship scalable features.

The role focuses on 3D scoping, estimates, and scope-to-order, balancing technical leadership with hands-on delivery and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Experience operating as a Staff Software Engineer or equivalent, setting technical direction for a product area across multiple engineers.
• Deep backend and systems design skills, with end-to-end ownership of a complex domain.
• Experience building customer-facing products and working directly with customers to understand workflows.
• Clear, direct communication with teams and leadership on product and technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive technical direction for the Property Scope area, including data flow and estimates.
• Hands-on contribution about two days per week; review code and unblock the team.
• Collaborate with product, design, and insurance integrations on shared surfaces.
• Help shape architecture, engineering bar, and team structure for the initiative.
• Partner with stakeholders to turn property data into scope, cost, and design recommendations.
