Job summary

Harvey is hiring a Staff or Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead engineering projects across Product Engineering teams. You will collaborate with AI, Legal, and GTM to build secure systems delivering value to customers across web, desktop, mobile, and embedded experiences.

The role spans backend, full stack, and AI, with opportunities across Word, Outlook, Slack integrations and agentic capabilities. The position is based in New York or San Francisco with a hybrid schedule (three days in

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in a product-focused software engineering role at Staff level or above.
Depth in full stack, backend, or agents/AI and enough range to be useful outside it.
Experience building scalable, extensible systems that support multiple product lines.
Track record of shipping highly intuitive products in fast-growing SaaS.
Experience with React, TypeScript, CSS (TailwindCSS), Python.
Experience with AI coding tools and building agentic systems.
History of influencing engineers and leaders beyond direct scope.
Strong Computer Science knowledge; grit and startup experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead large, high-priority projects spanning multiple teams and define technical bets.
Build AI platform and AI-native capabilities: agent harness, agent building, tool calling, memory and context management.
Ensure secure, scalable systems across surfaces (web, desktop, mobile, embedded) and APIs.
Ship end-to-end experiences in web, Word, Outlook, Slack, and integration layers.
Mentor senior and staff engineers and raise engineering standards.
