UKG is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Payroll Engineering organization, driving architecture, scalability, and long-term strategy for the payroll platform. You will guide design across teams, mentor engineers, and advance cloud-native modernization while exploring AI-driven capabilities to boost productivity and outcomes.

This role requires deep technical expertise, strong architectural vision, and the ability to align engineering investments with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java and modern backend architecture patterns.
• Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and modern web architectures.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive long-term technical vision for Payroll platforms and services.
• Lead design of highly scalable, distributed systems and modern cloud-native architectures.
• Mentor engineers and influence architecture across multiple teams.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI and Generative AI to improve productivity and outcomes.]
