Mercor is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the team behind a large enterprise tech organization's Android and iOS apps. The role is mobile-first, primarily Android in Kotlin, with work across backend services, APIs and web when needed, and AI coding tools are a normal part of the day.

You will build and ship features for native mobile apps (Android/Kotlin), contribute across backend and web components, use AI tools to accelerate delivery, participate in design reviews and production

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on native mobile experience (Android with Kotlin and Jetpack; iOS/Swift welcome; Flutter or React Native counts if you've done native work).
• Some production experience outside mobile (backend services, APIs or web apps).
• Solid engineering fundamentals in design, testing and debugging.

Job description

Mercor is placing a Staff Software Engineer on the team behind a large enterprise technology organization's Android and iOS apps. It's a mobile-first role, mainly Android in Kotlin, with work across backend services, APIs and web when needed, and AI coding tools are a normal part of the day. Full-time, 40 hours per week, remote in the United States, at $50–$90/hr. This is a W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC, placed within the client's engineering organization as part of its extended workforce.

You will build and ship features for the team's native mobile apps, mainly Android in Kotlin; contribute across backend services, APIs and web applications when needed; use AI-powered developer tools to get up to speed on unfamiliar code and ship with quality; take part in technical design, code reviews and production support; and work closely with Product, UX and partner engineering teams while helping other engineers grow.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
• hands-on native mobile experience, ideally Android with Kotlin and Jetpack (iOS/Swift is welcome too, and Flutter or React Native counts if you've also done some native work)
• some production experience outside mobile, such as backend services, APIs or web apps
• solid engineering fundamentals in design, testing and debugging
• comfortable using AI coding tools such as Copilot, Cursor or Claude
• able to engage reliably for at least 40 hours a week on weekdays
• clear communication and a collaborative, curious mindset
