Job summary

Mercor Software Engineering is seeking a Staff Software Engineer focused on Mobile (Android) with Kotlin and Jetpack, plus full-stack contributions. You will work on native mobile features and assist backend/API/web tasks, using AI coding tools daily.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, collaboration with product and UX, and delivering high-quality software in a distributed enterprise environment. Remote-friendly within the United States.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on native mobile experience, Android with Kotlin and Jetpack; iOS/Swift welcome; Flutter or React Native counts.
• Some production experience outside mobile, e.g. backend services, APIs, or web apps.
• Solid engineering fundamentals: design, testing, debugging.
• Familiar with AI coding tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.
• Available for at least 40 hours/week weekdays.
• Strong communication and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship features for native mobile apps, mainly Android in Kotlin.
• Contribute beyond mobile to backend services, APIs, and web apps as needed.
• Use AI-powered coding tools to learn code quickly and ship with quality.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and production support.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and partner engineering teams; mentor peers.
