Capital One is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join Capital One Tech, driving cloud-native solutions for Loyalty and Card Tech+. You will lead by example, contribute code, mentor engineers, and shape a bold technical vision.

You will collaborate with product managers, ML experts and people leaders to deliver scalable, observable systems, leverage AI coding tools, and influence senior stakeholders while fostering an inclusive engineering culture.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering including system design and code contributions.
• 1+ year using generative AI coding tools to augment development.
• 7+ years in backend (Go/Java/Python) and 7+ years in web tech (JavaScript/TypeScript).
• 7+ years designing scalable microservice architectures in large environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect software and systems powering loyalty rewards and benefits.
• Lead with substantial coding and contribute to codebases alongside engineers.
• Leverage AI coding tools to augment software delivery.
• Define and evangelize a bold technical vision for the domain.
• Mentor and coach engineering teams and lead by example.
