Job summary

Gusto is hiring a senior full-stack engineer to own the systems that empower savers to manage their retirement with 401(k)s, IRAs, and more. You will own backend services and APIs end-to-end, build saver interfaces, and collaborate with Product, Design, Compliance, and Operations to translate complex financial requirements into reliable software.

The Money Planning team focuses on employee and saver experiences, enabling contributions, withdrawals, and account management while driving

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience shipping production products or platforms.
• Experience building scalable web applications across frontend and backend.
• Strong experience with services and APIs and with message-based systems (Sidekiq, Kafka).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test the full-stack experience for savers to manage their retirement accounts.
• Contribute to architecture to support new capabilities and AI-enabled features.
• Own end-to-end production support, reliability, and observability improvements.
