Job summary

Gusto is hiring a senior software engineer to own the end-to-end development of our Core 401(k) systems. You will ship production code, evolve the architecture, and collaborate with product, compliance, and operations to translate complex financial requirements into reliable software.

You will work within the Core 401(k) team, contributing across frontend and backend services while maintaining production quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience delivering production software.
• Ability to influence across teams to drive projects forward.
• Experience building services and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and ship services that enable companies to offer and manage 401(k)s.
• Identify opportunities to extend architecture for new capabilities.
• Codify and evangelize engineering best practices.
• Partner with product, design, and operations to scope work and deliver production-ready solutions.
• Debug production issues and improve reliability and observability.
• Collaborate with other teams to integrate with shared systems.
• Write clear, well-tested code that scales.
