DoorDash is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Event Streaming Systems in a hybrid New York Metro Area position. You will set the technical direction for our streaming platform, own the hardest architectural problems, and drive the evolution of a platform that processes trillions of events daily across multiple regions.

The role emphasizes deep knowledge of Kafka, object-store-backed streaming, and scalable infrastructure, with a focus on performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Qualificações

• 8+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Experience operating event streaming systems such as Kafka at scale and understanding internals.
• Strong Java/Go or similar language engineering with concurrency and distributed systems expertise.

Responsabilidades

• Set multi-year technical vision and architecture for the event streaming platform.
• Lead large, ambiguous streaming initiatives end-to-end to reduce cost and operational overhead.
• Deep-dive into Kafka internals and modern streaming systems to solve cross-team problems.
• Own architectural decisions with wide blast radius across multiple domains.
• Debug and resolve hard distributed-systems issues in production under Tier-0 constraints.
• Raise technical bar through design reviews and mentorship of senior engineers.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape roadmaps and translate business needs into platform strategy.
