Job summary

Esper is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own significant areas of our platform and help modernize government operations. You will design, build, and operate core services end-to-end, while shaping the technical roadmap in partnership with leadership.

As a senior individual contributor, you’ll work with product and design to turn ambiguous problems into shipped features, model government-domain data, and mentor peers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong programming in Java, Python, Go, or Rust; primarily Java.
• Experience owning services in production with data stores, deployment, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core services and features end-to-end.
• Set technical direction and roadmap with engineering leadership.
• Collaborate with product and design from problem to shipped feature.
• Model domain entities, relationships, roles, and processes for gov tech.
• Provide technical mentorship and design reviews to engineers.
