Job summary

SafeLease is expanding its Engineering team in Austin and seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead across the full stack. You will architect, build, test, and ship features, collaborating with leadership to solve high-impact technical challenges and shape the platform's future.

You should bring 7+ years of fast-paced, agile development experience with the listed tech stack, and be comfortable working in a hybrid in-person/remote setting from downtown Austin.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in a full-stack software development role with ownership of complex features.
• Degree in CS/EE.
• Proficiency in Frontend (TypeScript, JavaScript, React).
• Proficiency in Backend (Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs) and infrastructure (AWS, relational databases).
• Experience with AI tooling such as Claude Code and other emerging AI tools.
• Strong collaboration, communication skills, and ability to lead cross-functional discussions.

Responsibilities

• Lead development across products, architect, build, and ship high-quality code across the platform.
• Design scalable, customer-centric solutions in collaboration with Product.
• Own issue resolution and guide others on best practices for reliability.
• Champion continuous improvement in system performance and code health.
• Mentor teammates and shape a culture of learning and technical excellence.
• Advocate for users and ensure solutions deliver meaningful value.
