Redwood Materials seeks a Staff Software Engineer to own a domain of Redwood OS end to end, shaping problems with the business, designing, shipping, and running it in production.

You will translate ambiguous requests into concrete specs for engineers and AI agents, make trade-off decisions across services, data models, and APIs, and drive code quality and reliability on the floor with manufacturing partners.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with end-to-end ownership.
• Strong Python and production React; AWS experience.
• Experience owning a significant system or domain.
• Clear, concise technical writing for specs and PRs.
• Ability to size effort to business value over engineering novelty.
• Comfort working with warehouse/manufacturing operators on the floor.

Responsibilities

• Own a domain of Redwood OS end to end: shape the problem with the business, design it, ship it, and operate it in production.
• Turn ambiguous business asks into clear specifications engineers and AI agents can execute.
• Make tradeoff-aware design decisions across services, data models, APIs, and integrations.
• Set the bar in code review and verify output at volume with guardrails.
• Keep the platform coherent as multiple engineers and agents change it in parallel.
• Debug production issues and improve reliability of owned systems.
• Document conventions, tooling, and mentoring to raise team output.
• Work on-site with stakeholders 3 days/week including floor walks and demos.
