Reddit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape the future of our developer platform. You will lead cross-functional initiatives across backend, platform, and full-stack systems to empower developers building apps on Reddit.

You’ll define technical direction, drive major initiatives from exploration to launch, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-impact products. This role is remote-friendly with strong ownership expectations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of industry experience in platform functionality, developer tools, full-stack products, or app platforms.
• Experience leading large-scale technical projects from design to delivery.
• Strong backend or platform engineering experience, with cross-stack ability.
• Familiar with C++, Java, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or React.
• Uses AI tools in daily work to improve productivity and software quality.
• Mentors engineers and raises the bar for software practices.
• Entrepreneurial and self-directed, comfortable with ambiguity.
• Excellent communication for remote work across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve core platform services powering the developer experience.
• Create capabilities that help external developers build great apps on Reddit.
• Contribute across full development cycle: design, development, testing, experimentation, launch.
• Review code, design docs, product specs, and user experiences.
• Shape team strategy and future platform direction.
• Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and foster ownership.
