Job summary

Equinix in Dallas, TX seeks a Staff Software Engineer to build reliable, high-performing networking software for our next-generation platform. You will design scalable distributed systems and contribute to network services on cloud-native compute platforms.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable systems, write tests, and participate in code reviews to ensure production-ready software powering Equinix’s global networks.

Qualifications

5+ years experience in software development for distributed systems.
Bachelor’s/Master's degree in computer science or relevant engineering field or equivalent industry experience.
Experience in building software defined multi-tenant networking platforms at scale using cloud-native networking technologies and ecosystems.
Understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols (BGP, EVPN, IPsec) and networking concepts.
Experience with containerization/orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
Experience with public cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Expertise in automating deployments of applications into Kubernetes on x86 deployments.
Experience with open source networking technologies and communities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Actively participate in the software development towards designing an ecosystem of software services to extend Equinix’s networking services through a network-adjacent virtualized compute platform.
Collaborate with team members to design and implement scalable and efficient distributed systems.
Engage in design discussions and code reviews to help maintain high-quality code.
Contribute solid unit tests and integration tests to CI/CD pipelines to deliver code from commit to deployment in minutes with confidence.
Help identify technical debt and drive continual improvement of our software quality.
Partner with support and operations teams to ensure proper operationalization, observability, and support of our software in Production.
Drive a culture of innovation, excellence & collaboration with other business functions.
Participate in incident management processes and troubleshoot production issues in a timely manner.
Participate in an on-call rotation (when we get software into Production).
Follow a proactive and collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
