Job summary

Heron Power Inc. is seeking a Staff/Senior Staff Software Engineer to define the technical direction for our software platform, from build systems to data infrastructure.

This is a hands-on IC role with ownership of end-to-end systems and collaboration with hardware, manufacturing, and operations teams. You will write production code, design scalable services, and lead CI/CD efforts, Kubernetes deployments, and secure, observable platforms.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent experience in CS/Engineering.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering, with time at Staff/Principal IC level.
• Strong backend and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, and TS/JS.
• Experience with cloud, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing and owning CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for major platform systems across Build, data pipelines, and tooling.
• Write production code and ship end-to-end systems.
• Own infrastructure: AWS, IaC, and deployment automation.
• Lead and mentor engineers; participate in design reviews and standards.
