Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join the Alloy Integrations team in New York. You will design and operate distributed systems that move billing data between Metronome and the platforms customers use to manage their finances, including invoicing, payments, and revenue recognition.

You will work closely with product managers, partner engineers, and support teams to ship customer-facing improvements, strengthen event-driven pipelines, and drive reliability across core systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional backend experience.
• Experience designing with third-party APIs and data consistency across systems.
• Proficient in distributed or event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain integrations between Metronome and external billing, payments, marketplace, ERP, and CRM platforms
• Build reliable, event-driven systems for invoice delivery, payment workflows, and status sync, with safe retries, rollbacks, and reconciliation
• Ship features that help customers control how they invoice, collect, and account for revenue, from design through launch
• Improve observability and automated repair across our systems so problems are caught and fixed before customers notice them
• Participate in an on-call rotation and lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and follow-up work for the systems the team owns
• Plan and carry out migrations and changes to existing integrations without disrupting customer billing
