Job summary

Eightpoint is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to anchor across engineering teams, shaping how we build, influencing architecture decisions, and elevating engineers. You will operate at the intersection of deep technical expertise and organizational leadership.

You will define standards, remove blockers, mentor senior engineers, partner with managers, and contribute to hiring. This role requires strong design sense, polyglot language experience, and a track record of delivering scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with growth to senior or staff level.
• Deep understanding of software design patterns and anti-patterns.
• Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and scalable systems design.
• Experience driving architecture across multiple teams or services.
• Ability to navigate polyglot architectures and reason about cross-language tradeoffs.
• Proven ability to influence without authority and lead through credibility.
• Fluency in at least one strongly typed language (C++, C#, Java, Rust, Go, etc.).
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive architecture decisions for cross-cutting systems.
• Define and enforce engineering standards patterns, anti-patterns, code quality, and system design.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide high-signal feedback across teams.
• Identify and resolve technical debt before it compounds.
• Partner with engineering managers and team leads to unblock teams and improve delivery velocity.
• Mentor and grow senior engineers; invest in technical depth of the org.
• Bridge dependencies across teams, align on shared infrastructure, and reduce duplication.
• Contribute to hiring by defining bar-raising interview criteria and participating in technical evaluations.
