Job summary

Rocket Companies in Detroit seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead AI tooling and infrastructure for the core servicing platform, guiding strategy, technical direction, and cross-team problem solving to accelerate engineering velocity.

You will design autonomous AI development infrastructure, context engineering systems, and workflow automation that enable scalable, resilient software delivery across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience building developer tooling, automation systems, or AI-assisted workflow infrastructure in a production engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI harness and scaffolding systems that operationalize AI coding tools across the core servicing platform’s engineering workflows.
• Architect and implement context engineering infrastructure—prompt systems, context retrieval patterns, knowledge packaging, and evaluation frameworks for trustworthy AI.
• Build workflow automation that integrates AI assistance into CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, testing, and developer feedback loops.
• Develop reusable tooling, templates, and frameworks for teams to adopt without requiring deep AI expertise.
• Work with engineers to identify workflow friction and build tooling to eliminate it.
• Stay current on AI developer tooling and provide practical recommendations aligned with the platform’s re-platforming roadmap.
