Job summary

Rocket, a Detroit-based company, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable platform infrastructure. You will drive automation, observability, and AI-assisted workflows while partnering with developers and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.

The role spans AWS, on‑prem, and a second cloud, with a focus on secure, self-service tooling and reusable patterns. You will shape data platform infrastructure, lead medium-to-large initiatives, and mentor other

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in workstation or server administration.
• 3+ years of systems engineering delivering production solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent).
• Proficiency with Office tools and documentation systems (Confluence/Jira).
• Strong scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash) and at least one language (.NET, Python, Go).
• Solid Windows/Linux, virtualization, and containerization knowledge (Kubernetes/Docker).
• Experience with AWS and at least one other cloud (Azure or GCP) and on-prem data centers.
• Experience using AI-powered tools with security and data governance awareness.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation/Bicep) and CI/CD for infra.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of platform solutions meeting requirements.
• Collaborate across Windows, Linux, and .NET workloads and cloud across AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Improve engineering toolchain including source control, CI/CD, packaging.
• Design hybrid cloud and on-prem data services with secure patterns.
• Develop reusable modules, patterns, and runbooks for teams.
• Mentor engineers and lead knowledge-sharing sessions.
