Job summary

Cohere Health is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Payment Solutions team in designing and scaling AI-driven healthcare payment platforms. This remote-first role may require occasional travel to Boston for onboarding and team events.

You will mentor engineers, own platform improvements, and define data architectures to empower AI agents with the right context across providers, payers, and delegated entities.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in the software development lifecycle and cloud-native systems design.
• Expertise in auth/authz frameworks, secure API design, access control, and automated testing.
• Strong system design, observability, and production operations skills.
• Fullstack proficiency in modern languages, event-driven systems, and CI/CD; IaC a plus.
• Experience designing data systems/pipelines for analytical and AI workloads.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across architecture, system design, and mentoring of engineers.
• Lead development and enhancement of AI-powered payment platforms for performance and configurability.
• Design data retrieval architectures to give AI agents the right context from healthcare sources.
• Contribute to high-quality production code, manage releases and deployments.
• Drive non-functional requirements: observability, security, privacy, and compliance.]
• Collaborate with ML/DS, product teams, and architects to align with business goals.
• Participate in sprint planning, execution, and retrospectives to improve velocity.
