Job summary

CircleCI’s On-Prem Team seeks a Staff Engineer to drive the Kubernetes-based Server platform, improve install/upgrade experiences, and scale internal tooling for customers with air-gapped and regulated environments.

You’ll own end-to-end platform strategy, mentor engineers, and partner with Product to align technical direction with business goals. Strong Go backend, distributed systems, and on-prem expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building production backend and infrastructure systems.
• Strong in Go, API design, data modelling, distributed systems, and operational tooling.
• Experience designing and operating internal platforms for multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-native capabilities; treat AI as the default approach for problems.
• Define platform strategy and direction for tooling, test infra, and release automation inside Server.
• Ensure reliable install, upgrade, and operation experiences for CircleCI Server across customer environments.
• Own Server's foundation including Kubernetes infra and internal tooling.
• Improve observability using OpenTelemetry and build fast diagnostics for operators and engineers.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering Management to translate business goals into technical strategy.
